Welcome to 2012. (Bit delayed I know....!)

We have had a lovely festive season here at Great Coffee but we are now back and ready for action.

What are we planning in 2012? Well we are still looking for our next store so if you know of any suitable sites where there is great footfall then we would love to hear about it.

We have been refreshing some of our posters and marketing. I have posted a few examples below.

The first Sandwich of the Week for the new year is going down a treat - Spicy Fajita Chicken and Cool Mint and Cucumber Tatziki in a wholemeal pitta - great for those of you on a NY diet. We also have other low fat sandwiches, salads, smoothies and skinny drink options for anyone who is trying to shed a few festive pounds that have followed you into 2012!!

Outside catering and office buffets is going to be one of our 2012 targets. Before the end of the year we sent out over 100 buffet taster boxes to local businesses so we are hoping that they loved them and we can look after their buffet requirements in the year to come.

Finally, don't forget that the most important thing to us at Great Coffee is what YOU think - so if there is anything that we do that you don't like then tell us. If there is anything you want us to add to the menu - tell us. We have a CAN DO policy at all times so if we can, we will.

Morning all,

Happy Halloween. We haven't got any Tricks but as always we have loads of TREATS for you.

This weeks Sandwich of the Week is going to be a MEAT FEAST PIZZA PANINI - a delicious combination of ham, salami and serrano with melted cheese and an authentic pizza sauce.

Having got back from hols to the clocks going back and darker colder nights got us thinking ahead to the next big event - Christmas. As many of you know we have a great little room downstairs which is ideal for small gatherings, buffets, receptions and so on. With this in mind, we have put together a little menu which is ideal for a get together maybe at the end of the working day before a night out on the tiles or over a lunchtime with a festive drink for you and your team (below).

As always, we have a CAN DO policy here so if this is not quite what you were after then just let us know and we can come up with something different.

Old Skool Favourite!

Morning,

This week at Great Coffee Quayside we have an old skool favourite as our Sandwich of the Week:

FISH FINGER SANDWICH!
3 Crispy Fish Fingers on White Bread with Lurpak! (Heinz Ketchup also available for that perfect finishing touch).

As it is now getting chilly, we have added HOT AND TASTY NOODLES which will be available every day alongside our tasty Covent Garden Soups . There are three different varieties that will be available on a rolling basis - Spicy Vegetable, Chicken and Prawn. Again, we would love to know what you think of our new dishes.

OUR BREAKFAST JUST GOT FASTER AT WEEKENDS.....

We are proud of how fast we manage to produce our tasty Full English Breakfasts from our wonderful Turbochef oven, but on a weekend when the groups arrive, we can sometimes get a backlog....BUT NOT ANY MORE.

We have introduced our Speedy Breakfasts at weekends, which means you can go and get your breakfast straight away after ordering and paying at the till and have much more time to enjoy the stunning Quayside views as you tuck in.

Great North Run Weekend - We LOVE it

Hi there,

Just thought we would drop a few lines down as we are so excited about the Junior GNR on Saturday and to welcome all the runners and their supporters from out of the area visiting us for the weekend.

We will be open from Very Early until late all weekend so we are here when you need us. We have stocked up on Bananas and Bottled Water and will be operating our little refreshments trolley outside as well for bottled drinks, snacks and sandwiches for those who don't have time to come in and see us.

The iPod has been updated with some Top Tunes to keep all the young runners motivated and we are making MASSES of cheese and ham toasties and bacon sarnies for refuelling after the event.

We would love to see you over the weekend. We hope we do.

Morning all,

Hope you are well this sunny morning. Haven't blogged for a while so thought I would bring you up to date with a few recent developments at Great Coffee Quayside.

As the sunshine appears to be on us, we have added more tables outside so you can enjoy the sunshine as you take in the stunning Quayside views of the Millennium Bridge and the Baltic.

With the British Summer weather being as it is, we have also spent some time refreshing the table layouts inside. We have kept some of the sofas downstairs but we have also added some more "traditional" tables and chairs. Additionally, we have re-jigged the seating plan upstairs and added seating for another 10 people.

We have noticed that we are becoming a popular stop for Breakfast on the way to work for many people so in order to give you more choice, we have added more items to our range including individual cereals, toasted bagels and more selections to add to your Full English if you need the full works!!

Our new range of salads are also proving popular in this warmer weather as the perfect light lunch choice on the go.

Finally, don't forget, if you can't get out for lunch then our Lunch 2 U trolley is out every day to businesses on the Quayside. We are often found at the North of England P&I building, Quayside House and Trinity Gardens. If you would like us to pay your office a visit then please give us a call at the shop on 0191 261 8866 and we would love to come along.

Well, I think that brings us all up to date. I will post the new breakfast menu in the next few days so keep your eye out for that and we look forward to welcoming you to the Quayside soon.

Did you know we have a room downstairs for you to use COMPLETELY FREE OF CHARGE for your meetings? It is also licensed if you would like it on an evening.

It is ideal for interviewing, one to one appraisals away from the office, presentations, entertaining, drinks receptions and basically any other small gathering you have in mind.

There is a 50 inch plasma television on the wall with connections available for most laptops to allow you to present along with free Wi Fi should that involve connecting to the internet.

We do not charge room hire, and the space is bookable on first come first served basis whenever you may need it.

If you are entertaining clients or just want to feed the troops we have a range of delicious buffets or you can simply choose from what we have in the store.

We feature our meeting space on Space on Tap if you would like more information.

Happy 2011 for Great Coffee Quayside!

Hi there,

Belated Happy New Year from all of us at Great Coffee Quayside.

I just thought I would drop you a quick note as we enter into 2011 to remind you that we are here for you should you have catering / meeting space / coffee shop needs!

We have our snug room downstairs, which we have recently added a couple more tables to, should you need somewhere private to meet. Room hire is complimentary as long as you buy drinks and snacks.

We do have our new buffet menu available should you have any small functions / meetings that need Great refreshments. We can cater for all numbers and tastes.

Finally, don't forget that we are licensed to sell alcohol here at the Quayside and now stock a selection of wines and beers to help you relax and unwind at the end of a stressful day.

As far as the shop goes, we have many exciting plans for 2011. We have recently refreshed our look and will be introducing some new and exciting sandwiches and snacks in the very near future including jacket potatoes, individual pizza's and some new sandwich choices on a variety of breads.

As always, we love to know what you think so if there is anything else you want us to be doing or making, then me know as we love feedback. We make all our sandwiches and panini's fresh on site daily so we can accommodate most suggestions.

Where can we go?

As many of you may now know, we have our very own swanky Smoothies and Milkshakes van. It's like a little mobile Great Coffee.

We are currently facing the "challenge" of finding places to send it. We have had some success in finding some venues to visit. We go to the Quorum Business Park every morning and are just about to visit the Jackal International (Tommee Tippee) factory in Cramlington on a regular basis. We frequent the Quayside market on a Sunday and have been visiting some of the local schools at kick out time.

I just thought I would put it out there to anyone reading to contact us if you have any ideas of where we could visit with this van. Ideally we are looking for places in Northumberland or the outskirts of Newcastle (due to fairly stringent street trading regulations). If you have any ideas, then please let me know on myfriends@greatcoffee.me or via twitter.com/gr8_coffee or facebook.com/gr8coffee.

Another idea we have had is to promote it for kids parties and weddings. Again, if you know anyone who may be interested, let me know.

Coffee Can Save your Life!!

According to a report in the Sun yesterday, research has now shown that drinking 4 cups of coffee a day can reduce a woman's chances of getting heart disease by up to a FIFTH. Doctors found that coffee consumption slashed the risk by almost 20% as they believe it reduces inflammation of the arteries and thus improving blood flow.

You see – on top of everything else we do – we are providing a health service too!!

First there was Facebook, then we got tweeting on Twitter....NOW.... we have a BLOG!!

Soon you won't be able to avoid us wherever you go.
